🇪🇺 Our Story

Culture as a Bridge, Not a Barrier

Plzeň has a long tradition of multicultural coexistence — for centuries, Czechs, Germans, and Jews lived here together. This interweaving of cultures shaped the city, its architecture, education, and arts.

Historical Roots

Ukrainian culture has never been foreign here — its traces go back to the days of Austria-Hungary and the First Republic, when Czech and Ukrainian circles actively influenced each other. We are united by our Slavic foundation, shared values, and respect for culture that transcends borders and generations.

Today, Plzeň continues this tradition. The developing Czech-Ukrainian cultural scene is its natural continuation and proof that culture can be a bridge between people.

Founding Date: March 25, 2025

Our Goal: To support cultural connection between the Ukrainian community and Czech society, strengthen neighborly relations, and create a safe space for sharing experiences.

Who We Are and How We Work

The project is based on volunteer and community activities — we involve partners, local residents, artists, and other associations led by foreigners.

Our events arise from within the community — they are organized by Ukrainians and war refugees themselves: singers, dancers, musicians, poets, teachers. For many of them, Plzeň has become a new home and a place where they can create, share, and grow again.

A Living Form of Integration

This is a living form of integration, where people are not divided into "guests" and "hosts" — everyone is a co-creator. Our events are barrier-free: open to all age and social groups.

Bilingualism and Openness

All our events are open to the public and free, conducted in both Czech and Ukrainian. We involve professional and amateur artists, children, parents, seniors, and students — people who, through culture, overcome language and social barriers.

Our Mission

We are not a traditional integration center. Our goal is not just contact between foreigners, but genuine connection between Czechs and Ukrainians through culture and shared experiences. Our events bring understanding between generations and nations.

Culture, Education, and Mental Health

We believe that culture heals. We are part of the European debate on how art, creativity, and shared experiences support mental health. Our approach is based on the concept of "Prevention Through Culture" — preventing isolation, anxiety, and loneliness through joint creation.

Culture heals, connects, and returns identity and motivation to people. For many Ukrainians, the opportunity to engage in art again is a crucial step toward hope and a dignified life.

Our Community

Today we collaborate with more than 50 artists, lecturers, and volunteers from Plzeň and the surrounding area — singers, dancers, visual artists, poets, and teachers.

Thanks to them, Plzeň is becoming a vibrant center of Czech-Ukrainian cooperation, where culture truly connects.
